Harry Bertoia Wire Side Chair - All White Powder Coat

The Harry Bertoia Wire Side Chair is one of the most celebrated and enduring designs in our collection. Bertoia was an Italian-born American artist, art sculptor, and Modern Furniture Designer that has exceeded throughout his working life. At the age of 15, given the choice to stay in drought ridden Italy or move to Detroit, Harry chose to adventure to America and live with his older brother. From then on he worked his way up in the furniture industry working with people like Charles and Ray Eames and Florence Knoll. In the 1950s Harry Bertoia was a member of the famed Cranbrook Academy of Art. There Bertoia created his most famous furniture with five different wire chairs. These magnificent pieces have been used in hospitality, commercial and residential locations. 

This contemporary chair features a frame built out of White Powder Coated steel rods bent into wire mesh, making it surprisingly strong. The chair’s organic shape fits the contours of the body making it a perfect choice for residences and workplaces alike. The Wire chair truly is a masterpiece.
